The film is a fantasy about the small world beneath our feet. The protagonist breaks free from the general monotonous rhythm of the workers and embarks on his journey to discover the new sound of familiar space. The film was inspired by Chinese graphic art. I wanted to convey the lightness and subtlety of Chinese art, as well as the chaotic structure of nature. The film's plot serves the idea of contemplation and draws attention to the beauty of small, simple things.

From the life of angels

A peculiar world of Paul Klee's angels unfolds before the viewer. In it, the elders protect the younger ones and build a safe and cramped world around them. But what happens if you get out of its aisles?

2D animated film.

Director, screenwriter, artist - Fedor Yudin
Composer - Alexey Prosvirnin
Animators - Anna-Maria Chernigovskaya

The film was inspired by the work of Paul Klee. In his naive characters, I saw the narratives of family relationships. I imagined how they would develop and gradually it developed into a separate living world. I scanned Paul Klee's pictures from the album collection and used his original drawings for animation. I also want to include scenes of flying and playing with volumetric space in my film. I tried to use the 3D model for the background but this idea was unsuccessful. The movement of the drawing charter disconnected with realistic 3D space. That's why I decided to draw a background relying on the feeling of flight. Animator Anna-Maria Chernigovskaya worked on backgrounds. She tried to сatch movement of the charter in space.
It is a digital drawing film. But to keep the feeling of a living drawing, I used the effect of total animation. I tried to make it close to the original Paul Klee's drawings.

Dad-hat

Stop-motion future film about my father.

From a child's point of view, we see the complex relationships in the family. His father is, sometimes close, sometimes far, almost elusive. He seems to have a secret and his son is trying to figure it out. The family breaks up, and the father goes to the other side of the stormy river, but the son strives to overcome it and meet him.

My dad used to say about himself "I'm a dad-hat"
which meant that he was a bit of a foll. We could walk silently along the river for hours. And my father was close and I could understand him. And in the same evening, he seemed to be a distant and strange person. I was sure that his mysterious relationship with the world was beyond my understanding. When my father died, I felt that we hadn’t talked about something important. The film is based on these feelings. It's about the path to this conversation, and how it will never take place.
My dad was an archaeologist, he often read me the Iliad and stories about primal people, and for the film I want to keep this atmosphere of ancient magic. Characters of the film, wooden ritual puppets are the archetype of the family. They live in caves among rocks and stones. In the film I use natural materials such as metal, stones, plants, natural textures. The wood, which has been carved for years by the waves keeps time in itself. At the same time, modern elements for example, a power line can suddenly meet in the landscape - it sets the timelessness of this world. The characters of the film are made in a naive manner, they are simple in their moves, funny and clumsy, like the people who this film is about. The sound design includes many natural sound; the music, on the contrary, can include synthetic motifs.
